What is Tet holiday - Vietnam tradional Lunar New Year ?

Lunar New Year ( also known as Tet Nguyen Dan) is one of the most important festiaval of Vietnamese people. Every year, Tet is celebrated on the 1st of January according to the Lunar calendar in Vietnamand in some other countries wher the Vietnamese community lives.
Vietnamese culture - belonging to wet rice agriculture civilization - due to the need for agriculture cultivation, the time in a year into 24 different periods (and for each period, there is a “transitional time”). In which the most improtant period is the beginning of a cycle of cultivation and sowing, later known as Lunar New Year.
Tet Nguyen Dan is the first holiday of the year. Tet starts from New Year’s Eve along with the foreclosure ceremony. According to “Han Nom”, “Nguyen” means starting, “Dan” is early morning, Vietnamese Lunar New Year means the New Year begins, opening all jobs with all new scenes to welcome the spring. New Year comes, the new luck comes, and many worries and worries of the old year follow.

What is unfortunate, favorable of the old year will be chased away to welcome optimism, new hope will come.
